These are some images I edited today in photoshop. My favorite was the jet because of the difficulty of making clouds look realistic. The car was my least favorite and the hardest, because I very much dislike the pen tool. It is good at its job, but it's slow and clunky to use. The rest of the tools are pretty cool to use. I am however happy that I got more experience with the clone stamp, healing brush, and pen tools. Twords the end, I learned how to use some layer tools that are nice to know.

The elements of design I have learned about and used most in the past assignments would be Line, Shape, and Form. Making interesting black and white logos took creative use of these basic elements to make something unique and eye-catching. Space and Color were also important to the logos, and are very important to every project we do.
The methods of design I learned about and used most would be Contrast and Balance. Both are extremely important to making logos and basic designs. Contrast is obvious, but balancing the size of the elements of a logo or buisness card is tricky. The least important out of all the elements, methods, and principles we have learned are Texture and Harmony. Texture is rarely used and very rare. Harmony is common, but I never think about it. Harmony either comes naturally or doesn't apply. I never have to change something for harmony: it just flows out naturally, and can't be forced. To me, the most likely career in this field to me is not one where I am a graphic designer, but one where I can use my skills from here and other technology related classes. I don't expect to get a job as a graphic designer, but it would be a waste not to use the skills i've learned here in my career. The more I can do, the more I can get paid. Something like game designer, animator, etc., where I can directly use my skills at graphic design would be great. But any job related to computers is related to graphic design. Any job on computers like computer scientist, internet marketing, website design, internet engineer; all of these jobs can be augmented by my abilities as a graphic designer.
Worst case, if i don't get a job related to computers, the skills and ideas I have been taught here will help me anywhere in life. The basic design principles and examination of types of art will help me be more artistic and creative, which helps anywhere, in any job. |
